June 30th, 2008  |  by Eliacin  |  published in Community, DIY, alternative, blogger, campaign, economy, education, faith, kingdom, poverty

I met Eugene Cho about 2 years ago at lunch at the Mustard Seed House. What struck me about Eugene was his open and honest approach to ministry and how that tend to affect family life. Recently Eugene and his wife Minhee, began a non-profit/non-religious grassroots humanitarian organization with the vision of joining others to fight extreme global poverty.

May 13th, 2008  |  by Eliacin  |  published in Community, Uncategorized, alternative, blogger, blogs, celtic christianity, celtic spirituality, church, missional, missional church, mustard seed house

I’ve been following Jordon Cooper’s blog for years. He is one of the pioneer bloggers in the whole genx/pomo/emerging church convesation. Today he mentioned the Mustard Seed House (MSH) as one example of what it might look to have a missional imagination by growing communities instead of planting churches. He also mentioned other sisters communities like [...]

7 Loving Challenges for Emergent

7 Loving Challenges for Emergent via Mark Van Steenwyk

We should be careful not to draw lines in the sand–even if “they” drew it first.  We should always be VERY careful when we use us versus them language–especially within the Body of Christ. Within the emerging church, I’ve found many folks who, while [...]

the longhaul life of the community

March 20th, 2007  |  by Eliacin  |  published in Community, Contemplative, Religion, Spirituality, anglo-catholic, blogger, blogs, emerging church, liturgy, new monasticism

the longhaul life of the community
via Alan Creech
So, this is what I mean by the longhaul life of the community. We cannot live as communities of faith who are dependent on the newest, coolest thing that comes down the pike. We can’t sustain a transformative life together by merely “hanging out” - [...]
