From the mouth of the little ones

Posted on | December 1, 2005 |

I am the proud father of a cute, intelligent and very funny three year old daugther - "La bebe de papi."  She sings Bob Marley’s songs with me, we wrestle, we cook, she pulls my beard, we pray, we eat and drink from the Body and Blood of Christ together.

As we were getting ready for her night ritual, of flossing and brushing her teeth, combing her hair, and reading some books  she surprised us by enacting part of the Eucharist Liturgy. In the middle of our reading time she took the bottle of baby lotion and stated mumbling - "Christ of Christ"

My wife and I gave each others puzzled looks, wondering what was she saying. But it didn’t took long until out daughter made clear what her words and intentions were. With the bottle on her hands she came close to us and pretended to give us a drink from it, while she repeated those sacred words again- "Christ of Christ."   In her own little heart, she was sharing the "Blood of Christ" as she has been partaking of the Eucharist every Sunday.
